You Make Me Happy
"You Make Me Happy"
If there is one thing I hope my daughter remembers forever it’s that phrase. I tell it to her all the time. And it’s true. She has a way of making any day bright and happy. She is caring, giving and loving. She has a giggle that chases clouds far away. Add all of this together with the fact that she loves her daddy and you will see what a lucky man I am.

Book Review: A Million Miles in a Thousand Years by Don Miller
I began reading Don Miller's book A Million Miles in a Thousand Years while sitting on the toilet. I bring that up because that is pretty much how I saw my life at the moment - filled with mundane, random things of little significance. It didn't matter that I was sitting on a toilet on a plane somewhere over the Pacific Ocean; life was tedious and uninteresting. Will the World End in 2010? by Raymond C. Hundley
I love stories and I love science. I love stories about science. While Will the World End in 2010? is not a novel, it does tell an interesting story. Author Raymond Hundley does a great job of reviewing the main points of the 2012 doomsday theories. Book Review: Living Life In The Zone by Kyle Rote Jr. and Dr. Joe Pettigrew
Few things are as ubiquitous in today's society as sports. Living Life in the Zone is a 40 Day devotional book that attempts to capture that theme and challenge Christian men to grow in their spiritual life. It does both well. Peppered with testimonials and examples from well known sports figures, the book does a good job of blending popular sports culture with biblical principles in a very readable format. The daily readings are short enough to be completed each day and offer opportunities for discussion if used in a group setting. Read more »
The McDonald's Hug
I'm not sure what repulsed me more, the stench of sweat and alcohol or the way little particles seemed to fly out of his mouth while he talked. But there he was just inches from my face talking to me. I could understand only about one fourth of what he said as I looked him over from head to toe. His clothes were disheveled and dirty but what stood out to me most was his hat. It was a regular ball cap, but it was black with large green dollar signs all over it.
The other patrons standing in line at this McDonald's had cleared out of the way, hoping not to be the next target of the loud-talking, smelly man. However, when I looked into his eyes I didn't feel repulsed. I felt sad. In some way I hope I saw this man as God sees him - good. My thoughts were interrupted by his mumbling and rambling. At this point he was showing me his armband from a nearby mental institution. I shook my head unsure of why he was telling me this.
He then did something that shocked me. Read more »
