Initial Thoughts in Haiti - First Journal Entry
Monday, July 26
It’s Monday (as best as I can tell) and the trip is already tiring. Yesterday was amazing. After landing in Port-Au-Prince we had to get through immigration and customs. Both went as usual, except the luggage was pure chaos.
We then piled into the back of this large truck to go to the smaller airport. Jason Woody and I had to sit on the back as a human tailgate. My arm was looped through a bar to keep me on and every time we hit a bump my arm would get smashed against the rail - painful! After the short plane ride (which showcased Haiti’s beautiful countryside) we once again climbed into the back of trucks for a 45-60 minute ride through several towns. The ride was amazing as we got to Read more »
You Make Me Happy
"You Make Me Happy"
If there is one thing I hope my daughter remembers forever it’s that phrase. I tell it to her all the time. And it’s true. She has a way of making any day bright and happy. I realized that I am teaching my children to live boring stories, the complete opposite of what I was hoping to teach them.

Will the World End in 2010? by Raymond C. Hundley
I love stories and I love science. I love stories about science. While Will the World End in 2010? is not a novel, it does tell an interesting story. Author Raymond Hundley does a great job of reviewing the main points of the 2012 doomsday theories. He reviews areas where science poses questions or concerns about the coming years, while debunking some of the weaker claims.
The book is definitely written from a Christian perspective and the author gives his opinion of each point, but the reader is left to chose for themselves about the various claims. That is probably Read more »
Book Review: Living Life In The Zone by Kyle Rote Jr. and Dr. Joe Pettigrew
Few things are as ubiquitous in today's society as sports. Living Life in the Zone is a 40 Day devotional book that attempts to capture that theme and challenge Christian men to grow in their spiritual life. It does both well. Peppered with testimonials and examples from well known sports figures, the book does a good job of blending popular sports culture with biblical principles in a very readable format. The daily readings are short enough to be completed each day and offer opportunities for discussion if used in a group setting. Read more »
