The Wounds We Brag About

There he was, blood dripping from his nose and running around the corners of his mouth...as he laughed and talked. I could not hear what he was saying but his bloodied football uniform and animated gestures clearly told the story of a battle that had been fought - a story he was sharing with his teammates.

And that's how wounds arrive, isn't it? Battles are fought in our day to day lives. Sometimes these battles are against disease or depression. Sometimes we fight for our marriages, our jobs or our families. Sometimes we may not feel like we had a chance to fight at all, but the wounds still come. This is life on planet earth - what the scriptures refer to as "the land of the living."

A Sequel Worth Reading - What Difference Do It Make?

I'm not a big fan of sequels, but this one is well worth the read. What Difference Do it Make? is a follow up to Same Kind of Different as Me, the touching tale of Debbie and Ron Hall and Denver Moore. I read the book mainly because I loved Same Kind of Different as Me so much. I was hoping for more insight into homelessness and friendship. What I found in was inspiration to make a difference. Halloween is a fun time of year. I've noticed lately that stores seem to be competing to see who can be the scariest. In some cases it is almost humorous. Did You Hear My Silence?

Many of us claim to be good listeners, but do we listen to the silence? How many people do we overlook simply because they retreat into silence?

I have not updated my personal blog in over a month. There are several reasons for that including a crazy overseas travel schedule, sickness and the craziness of having kids in school.
