Cahaba River Fun
Saturday was a fun day. Our family went to Cahaba Lily Day in West Blocton. We loaded up in the back of my dad's truck and rode down to the riverside. The lilies were in bloom and looked wonderful. (Although they were a bit more showy two weeks back when we were there.)
My children glanced briefly at the lilies and agreed that they are pretty. Their shallow "uh-huh" echoing a faint agreement with my expressed enthusiasm. They had one thing on their mind- getting wet.
And get wet they did. They quickly relieved themselves of their shoes and began wading in the shallow water. Others were already swimming in the deeper water and watched as Hunter and Jaden cautiously walked around slipping on the rocks. It did not take long before they were sliding down the rocks and leaping into the deeper water. Hunter amazed himself with his ability to swim without "floaties".
Katie did not slide down the rocks since she was not big enough to swim, but she satisfied her need for wetness by lying down in the shallow water. After a mere 20 to 30 minutes they were soaking wet and extremely thankful for the lilies- or Grand-Daddy's truck - or whatever it was that brought them to the river for the day!
