Twitter Broke My Heart Today

Sometimes it’s the slightest comments that can break our hearts. That’s how it happened to me today as I was checking out the trending topics on Twitter. One of the trending topics was a hashtag of #uknowyouuglywhen. If you’re not familiar with hashtags they are codes put into twitter messages to group various messages together. In this case someone had started a wave where people were posting jokes that began with “”uknowyouuglywhen””. I read through some of the tweets that were displayed in the list for #uknowyouuglywhen. I even laughed at a few of them. I was mostly annoyed by some of the language and topics, but other than that it seemed like nothing more than a boring game some people were playing on Twitter. I was about to look at some of the other topics when a few specific tweets caught my attention. One read, “#uknowyouuglywhen you look like me.” I saw a few more with similar messages and looked at other posts by those individuals. Judging by their posts and their profiles, they were all teenage girls. My heart sank. This is what we are teaching our daughters? The truth is there is no such thing as an ugly person. I Miss Fish

We recently returned from a few weeks in the Philippines and there are several things I miss. Certainly, I miss the friendships and sight-seeing, but lately I’ve been missing some fish. At Manila Ocean Park there is a fish spa where the fish eat the dead cells from your feet. Amazingly, it leaves your feet very smooth. Even though my feet are extremely ticklish, I managed to keep them in long enough to notice quite a difference. After only a little more than two weeks back home, I am ready for another session. I haven’t looked closely, but I’m sure if I even find a fish spa here it will cost me quite a bit for a session. So, for now, I’m missing fish....
